One the first things people ask me when I tell them I am vegan is: "How do you get enough protein?"
It's funny that we have been brainwashed into thinking you need to eat animal meat in order to have protein in our diet. That said, it took me switching to being plant based to figure this out myself. I never knew that spinach has a fair bit of protein as compared to other green leafy vegetables and that broccoli is high in both protein and vitamin C.
The obvious "meat substitute" has been peanut butter or nuts. But once you discover the amazing flavours and texture from dishes made with lentils, beans, or chickpeas and the vast amount of spices or sauces you can make that are healthy, vegan and delicious you will be blown away!
